Such a shame July 29, 2010 Castello (Central OH, USA) I purchased about 10 of these clips over the last six months because I was so impressed with the sound and convenience of them. Gave some as gifts but kept most around for outside chores and to take walking in the park.
Please be aware that most people are like me and are initially impressed, and are rating these quite high while new. However these players simply have no long term reliability. You are not likely to get more than a couple of months use before they become flaky or just die. The batteries seem to be a typical flawed spot but some of mine would crap out while the batteries were near full charge. I tried piecing together parts from ones that had different problems with little success. (I do have to mention that I used them practically every day, but that is to be expected).
Further, please ask yourself why there are literally thousands and thousands of these players being sold as reconditioned.
It is such a darn shame, because these produce very good sound with better earphones, and are convenient as heck.
Great little MP3 player July 26, 2010 Christopher E. Greacen (Lopez Island, WA) Great little MP3, at a low price. Menu is intuitive. Sound is good. I like the clip -- can attache it to my clothing, or to my bicycle brake cables when i ride. The radio reception isn't great (i live in a rural area). But the voice recording function works well.
Great Value...Perfect 1st MP3 July 24, 2010 4Miles My 9 yr old son wanted to purchase an mp3 for himself. My friends all recommended the Sansa as a better deal than ipods. This was a perfect choice for him....$32, holds 500 songs, 15 hr battery life, easy to load, and enough "options" to amuse him with rating and organizing his selections. It is so tiny! He takes it everywhere. The only con is that you can't "dock" something this small, but he is far from ready for that or needing that, so when he is, we will upgrade his to a bigger one and give this to his younger brother. Love it! I want to purchase one for myself.
Great MP3 Player July 12, 2010 H Ward (Virginia) The Sansa Clip is a great MP3 player. The 2GB model I have has nearly 400 songs on it already, and room for more. I use my other 1GB Clip for podcasts. When you shut the device off, it will begin again right where you left off, which is especially useful when you are listening to a 3-hour show. (Unless you hook the device up to your computer to add content. Then you will have to manually find where you left off after you disconnect it.) There are two other things that would make the Sansa Clip almost perfect. One would be a 10-band equalizer, instead of just 5 bands, but that's a small complaint. The other thing that would make it even better would be a built in FM transmitter so that you could listen to it on the car radio, even if your cigarette lighter doesn't work. But overall, it's very good. 5 stars!
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR July 2, 2010 Kate Sponsler 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was in the market for a cheap, ultra-portable mp3 player with display and my sister-in-law had an earlier-model Sansa so I thought I'd try the 2 GB. I am very happy with its ease of use, portability, and sound quality. However I have been sorely disappointed with its battery life, and the fact that the headphones started shocking me within a few instances of using the player. My Sansa takes several hours to fully charge, and then the battery doesn't last very long at all, maybe an hour. If I fully charge the player and then don't use it right away, as in within a few hours, the battery fully discharges on its own. I hope this is not the typical experience. But I dropped $50 on it in the spring of 2008, what more could I ask for? Perhaps a little better battery performance.
