3 out of 5 stars Sound quality is horrible   July 3, 2010
I got a Philips MP3 for my birthday. I was excited to have something that would let me listen to my music. First of all, the sound got WAY to loud at the lowest volume level. It gives me a headache when I listen. Next, you can barely have ANY vidoes on it, the best I could come up with is 100% sound, 0% picture, vice versa, or 50% sound, 50% picture. Thirdly, I can't make a playlist other than the "To Go" playlist. It always runs out of battery too. Lastly, a Philips MP3 player costs about 100 dollars. An ipod nano costs ten dollars more than that! If you want a music player, buy an ipod nano.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this product.   January 7, 2010

random shuffling is horrible. It had nothing random linked to it at all. You will easily realize the repetition and I am amazed that I have not yet broken this device given that its lack of innovation is quite frustrating. I cannot create a playlist. I cannot add a song to my favorite. This product is really junk.

1 out of 5 stars This thing is crap   September 12, 2009

Hard to load. Hard to orginize. Songs load out of sequence(rough when you load groups like Pink Floyd,Marillion, and Styx). Loading pics is a study in computer engeneering. Video? Forget it.
It takes a special program just to down load from you tube!
Want a good MP3 that is easy to use? Buy Creative. I had a 1GB Creative Nano that worked better than this thing.
I bought it on sale, no wonder it was half off!

3 out of 5 stars controls messed up   September 7, 2009

okay i get this thing for 60 bucks. It works fine for a little bit, but the controls are all screwde up. if i press fast forward it will rewind and it will pop up the stupid annoying "do you want to add this to the playlist". it will do the the same for rewind. if i press the menu button it will pause the song and go to to the menu or stop it go to to the menu then go back to the song and restart it. charging is another pain. the night before the long trip its on 2 bars go load it up it starts charging come back the next morning its on zero batteries? its just a waist of money and will brake down. im tired of all these mp3 pieces of crap im getting an ipod or zune i'll pay a hundred bucks for something that will last for few years than pay half the price for something that will last for a month with no problems.

I decided to check out the reviews for this while shopping for a replacement MP3 player. I purchased this player at Walmart soon after its release. I paid about $70, which at the time I thought was a good price. I had paid about that for my brothers 2g Sony the year before, by the way the Sony is still going strong and has better battery life than his Samsung P2 8g. My Philips would shut off during songs , it would shut off if you left it in play mode without changing songs, it would shut off when removed from the cable. When it shut off, I would have to find some tiny little pointed object to stick in the tiny hole in order to reach the reset button. If I was lucky I could then turn it back on, if not then I would have to hook it back up and let it charge. It would do this even when showing a full charge. Finally it died, it shut off just after charging and never would turn back on. Also, there is no real shuffle mode. It would only play a short list of songs and never play others. If I scrolled to a certain song it would play it and then go back to its short list. If I skipped a song it would go to the next, play several and then go back to the song I had skipped. If you read the other negative reviews you will notice a trend. It may be a great product for some, but I am someone that has found this product to be defective.
