SOFTWARE CORRUPTION! DON'T BUY! July 30, 2010 E. Malacarne (Boondocks, USA) This is a "NEVER AGAIN." So, dear review reader, please take our advice and DON'T BUY IT the first time. Please Google "Sony Walkman Software Corruption." Be sure to read the 2006 article where Sony "admits the software has problems." Well guess what, it's 2010 and the software still STINKS! Our brief (and still pending) episode with Sony went like this:
We (hubby & I) bought 2 Walkmans (8G and 16G). Loved them...for one whole month
ERROR! Software connection Issue
Returned at store of purchase, got 2 replacement devices
ERROR! Software Connection Issue (on the 8G device).
Store of purchase says we must contact Sony.
Mailed Sony faulty device, Proof Purch, Original Receipt, etc.
Approved for refund (within 1 YR warranty period)
A month goes by...
Another month...
Another month...
Another month...
STILL WAITING! NO device and NO money back
In the meantime, second device has also failed.
Moral of the story: DON'T BUY IT! Just pay the extra $$$ for a nice iPod and be done with it. When we had an iPod issue, the iStore people fixed it SAME DAY and IN STORE.
Like it a lot July 3, 2010 Paula R Lo (Badger, IA, US) This is very easy to use. I had one and decided to get on for my husband. The software is easy and it holds a ton of music and video and pics. I only wish there were more functions for organizing music files and managing playlists.
Solid Performer June 28, 2010 D. Stevenson This thing is a work horse. I've have been using it heavily for 2 years now. Same strong charge, never freezes works perfectly. Use a silicone cover!
I recommend Sony Walkman mp3 players to all my friends and clients!
Great sound, great battery, great player. May 22, 2010 Shadextrem (Cleveland, OH) I got this MP3 player about 2 years ago now, and it's still working as good as the day I took it out of the box. I've dropped it more times than I can remember and it's still kicking. Granted I have a nice silcon case on it, but still after two years of abuse for it to even be in one piece is amazing.I use this player everyday. Mostly to fall asleep to a book. The sound quality is excellent, and the battery life is the best of any I've ever owned. Sony rates it at about 24 hours battery life, just out of curiosity I let it play and it didn't die for well over 36 hours. I've not used this too much with video, honestly that's not what I got it for though. I mostly use it for audiobooks/music. It's very simple to load and remove songs. I ordered one of these for my dad, and he's not the most computer savvy person, and he has no problems with it. It's pretty much plug in, click, and go. The space on it is sufficient for me. I have 8 books on it at the moment(one of the books is 37 hours), as well as about 600 songs and still could fit some more.If you need a player for video, I'd opt for something more than 8gb, but for just music it's enough. The only downside I've ever found with this player is the innability to make playlists on the go. The player before this had that function and it was nice to be able to pic a playlist from my songs to fit my current mood, but that's a tiny issue. So all in all, I'd recommend this player to just about anyone.
expensive May 13, 2010 Rachel Alhassan (peoria, ill) i really dont understand why it costs so much on amazon. its a really good mp3 player but i wasnt willing to spend that much on it. so i bought a refurbished one. it hasnt arrived yet but i know its good because i used to have one until it got stolen. (i guess thats how good it is). but i would definently recommend this to anyone, just not for $90.00. thats outrageous. but great overall.
