This is what a MP3 player should be like July 19, 2010 Chris Sabanty Pros: works great, easy to use, low cost, small yet good feature set, (compared to an iPod) no iTunes required
Cons: limited storage, fast-forwarding not optimal, limited volume and audio quality, small screen
I've previously owned 2 iPods: one was circa 2005 and the other was a video iPod with plenty of space. I had a litany of problems. Sometimes they'd work fine but those days were few and far between. I finally caved in and purchased a vastly cheaper, less sexy MP3 player. The results? No skipping, no iTunes, and no problems after 4 months of frequent use.
Besides actually working, it's also very easy to use. There's a play and a stop button. A power button hasn't been sacrificed for aesthetic sensibility. The software is simple, too. There's no bloat like notepads, simple games, etc. The Clip only has the stuff you need to actually play music. One other great aspect compared to an iPod is it acts as a hard drive instead of forcing you to use iTunes.
Of course, with it costing so little, there are some downsides. Space is limited. You probably won't be able to keep your whole MP3 collection with you. Volume and audio quality are also a little inferior to the iPod. This isn't really a big deal with songs but some podcasts can be impossible to hear if there's a lot of background noise. Also, the screen is small and fast-forwarding (holding down the next track button) can be a little awkward.
Having said that, at its price and being a former iPod owner, the Sansa Clip greatly exceeded my expectations. I'd highly recommend it.
this thing is awesome July 17, 2010 Jh when i first bought this thing, i just wanted to get something that would play music, and that's just about it. And i'll tell you what, it does a damn good job at it. it sounds just as good as an ipod (yes i've used one) if not better. You can also synch your songs too it lightning fast! i put about 200 songs on it in about 10 mins. if you want something that is really good for playing music, buy this and you won't regret it, trust me.
Nifty Mp3 Player July 10, 2010 Janique (Gillette, Wyo) (Gillette, Wyoming) I finally upgraded from a discman to an MP3 player. Took me long enough;)
When my first discman broke (OK, I accidentally ran over it while moving the bike) I purchased another, thinking it would be less expensive than a new MP3 player (son's Zune was in the 100's-great product, btw, darn near indestructable) but I didnt want to pay that much for something I mostly use for morning exersize.
However, after a new discman, a few new CD's, ect, and doing some research I discovered that an MP3 player is actually more cost effective! think .99 cents for a song, instead of the whole CD, where I may only like a song or two. In the end (had I researched first, as I usual do) I could have saved myself the additional expenses, and the ongoing hassle I had with the discman, which rested on the electronic pad, and would frequently (while changing CDs or songs) become disconnected from the headphones, frisbee thru the air, hit the hardwood floor, and slide into unknown scary places! I would have to stop riding, and seek out said discman. UGH lol.
This was also so much easier to use than I had expected, and it clips right to my shirt! I can now read miles, minutes ect without moving CD's around. I dont like to waste things, so maybe Ill create my own version of Olympic Curling with the discman, and kitty toy balls. Not really, well maybe, HA!;)
I wish I would have purchased one sooner. Nice little product that performs great. Recomend!
Great little MP3 July 9, 2010 Carol (California, USA) I have two of these and I just love them. Easy to use and so very portable.
Good for mp3 not for FM July 8, 2010 H. Rios (Vzla) Size excellent, good battery life, sound like average is like my nokia xpress music sounds better.
And the FM Tuner really sucks, i can only listen barely 3 or 4 stations on my city, in my 5300 spress music nokia i can really listen more than 12 stations.
