First of all, this device has its weaknesses. It isn't a Shuffle, which to me is a good thing, but it is a little bigger, and it only supports MP3s and WMAs. That being said, get yourself a program like Songbird, which will transcode any music that isn't in one of these formats in to WMA upon syncing, and this problem is solved. That is a workaround, yes, but it is an easy one, and so I can live with it. The sound quality won't blow your mind, but neither will the sound quality of any player in this category.
What does well is play your music with a small form factor that is perfect for workouts. And I love the supplied headphones. They are better than the crap that you get with iPods or the Zune. They aren't audiophile quality, but again, this player is not aimed at audiophiles. The headphones are comfortable, loud enough to use working out, and they come with an extension cord. That means that on a cold run I can wear a hoodie, remove the extender, clip this guy to my hood and use the shorter headphones to insert in my ears from behind, without any excess cable. It will never get in your way, it's really cool. You can also put it on the collar of a t-shirt if you want, but I find that it pulls it back in that situation, the hood is a good weight for it.
So, a perfect player? No. A solid player if you want a second one for working out? Definitely. A solid , if compromised Shuffle replacement.

One and a half month after I bought this, I rue the day i bought this thing.
Sound quality is bad enough but It crashes, behaves erratically too often.
Bluetooth sound quality and range is pathetic.. connection gets lost too many times.
Just after a month, the power switch does not work. the software has to be repaired with the utility provided too often and still the problems persist.
Stay Away from this!

Only when you goto the Philips web-site, will you discover the number one question NOT posted in the specs: No Bluetooth headset support. i.e. No A2DP profile support. You cannot connect this device to any bluetooth headset. Buyer's remorse.
